The children filed into the sanctuary from the room behind the platform and took their assigned spaces. Their violins were under their left arm and bows in rest position. All the parents and families proudly sat as they together raised their bows in unison and began to play “I have decided to follow Jesus.” As I sat listening to this beautiful music I remembered when my two sons Josh and Jeff were very young and the endless hours of driving them to their violin lessons on Monday afternoons and to orchestra every Thursday night. We travelled through rain, snow, and all sorts of weather so they could excel in their talents. I never dreamed in those days that we would live deep in the southern cone of South America thousands of kilometers away from our country and see such wonderful results. Jeff, our youngest son is discipling twelve wonderful young people in our church through music. He is training them to play the violin and worship the Lord!
We recently ran into a problem. Our children’s church facilities were simply a storage room at the back of the church. It was over crowded, dirty, hot, too small, a fire hazard and uncomfortable for them. So we renovated it and it became my office and we gave the children’s church another larger room. Everyone is happy now and we have more space to grow. This is only a stop gap method while we continue to believe God for our own building.
I am really glad to announce that our youngest son Jeff is becoming more and more a vital part in every area of our ministry. He is very enthusiastic with a very clear calling and vision for the inner city. He is now raising monthly support for his continued work here in Argentina.
We had a wonderful time with our oldest son, Josh. He flew from Toronto on December 25th and arrived on the 26th and stayed with us until the January 9th. He was great to have him with us for two weeks. He even cooked supper for us. We did a lot of sightseeing. We were sad to see him return home. He is studying at Humber College in Toronto Canada.
Near our church is "The Congreso Plaza". Argentines love to be outside in the sun and especially in the cool of the evening on warm summer days. (By the way .... This has been a very hot - above 30 degrees celius - sunny summer.) An opportunity has come our way allowing us to conduct open-air services every Friday evening. We are in the process of planning music, puppets (thanks to Faith Tabernacle, Welland, Ontario) drama and movies to use in this outreach. Please keep us in prayer that the message of the gospel will be heard with hearts that are prepared for the seed to be planted.
We will keep you informed in our next newsletter.
